Roomio, a project initiated by Einrichtungspartnerring VME GmbH & Co. KG, aimed to revolutionize the digital commerce landscape for individual furniture stores and the VME brand portfolio.
This initiative sought to introduce a composable commerce platform, enhancing the growth potential for both individual stores and the collective VME group.
The platform was designed to enable diverse brands and local furniture stores to integrate digitally, showcasing their products and managing services both centrally and locally.
The journey began in January 2023, with datrycs at the helm, transforming the visionary ideas of CDO Sebastian Moos into a tangible commerce platform. This platform was envisioned to not only launch new VME brands but also to empower local VME members and their furniture stores with advanced commerce capabilities.
Faced with the challenge of integrating legacy technology from various stakeholders, datrycs engineered a solution that balanced flexibility with modern architectural demands. Utilizing Hygraph as a federation layer and modelling all content objects, datrycs successfully bridged the gap between old and new tech realms. This strategic move provided VME with a technical blueprint for a strong, adaptable architecture featuring a modern React frontend, which could be universally applied across all brands and dealers.
Moreover, the implementation of features like store finders and stock collection from local warehouses, coupled with digital configurators and a UX tailored to target personas, propelled VME towards its goal of harmonizing local and digital growth strategies.
Throughout the project, datrycs worked closely with the VME team to address not only technical but also organizational and procedural challenges, ensuring a seamless transition to a composable architecture.
The creation of a VME design library and a reusable repository for website elements established a solid foundation for brand consistency and efficiency. The integration of React component libraries and Vercel Analytics further streamlined the development process.
The project introduced automated order approval, billing, and returns handling processes. Innovations such as the dropshipper model and integrations for transactional and mass email communications significantly enhanced operational efficiency.
The launch of new brands, like roomio.de, on the developed technology stack showcased the project's success in achieving a rapid time to market. This approach allowed brands and products to transition seamlessly from inspiration to purchase, with fulfillment processes supported by partner networks.
The Roomio project stands as a testament to the power of digital transformation in the furniture retail sector.
By building a flexible, modern commerce platform, Einrichtungspartnerring VME has not only enhanced its brand portfolio but also created a scalable model for future growth.
The collaboration with datrycs has paved the way for an era of digital and local synergy, redefining the shopping experience for customers and setting a new standard in the industry.
